Customer feedback: Woody vs Buzz

True story:

At the start of the year, we didn’t know whether Woody or Buzz Skiwear would be more popular, so to determine how many suits to get of each, we decided we needed some customer feedback.

We stood under a chairlift and asked each chair which suit they preferred.

We personally preferred Woody BUT every single person said Buzz Lightyear.

So we trusted the public and split the entire Toy Story order 70% Buzz suits and 30% Woody.

This turned out to be a terrible idea.

They’re actually selling at exactly the same rate. We didn't get enough Woody.

We should have split them 50:50.

This means three things.

1. Sometimes there's a big difference between what people want and what people think they want 

2. It's better to trust your gut instinct instead of public opinion

3. If you do want a Woody Snow Suit then you’d better be quick! (some sizes are already sold out)
