Bored Ape Ski Club
Ahead of launching our own collection for adults (sign up for these here!), and as part of our new Custom Clothing by Dinoski service, we’ve collaborated with one of the most exciting NFT projects in the metaverse!
We created limited edition skiwear, exclusively for members of the Mutant Cartel - derived from the Bored Ape Yacht Club. NFT owners in this project include Justin Bieber, Eminem, Serena Williams, Snoop Dogg and Madonna! 🔥🧪🦍
Featuring Mutant Cartel branding, every suit is made from recycled plastic bottles and personalised with the member’s Bored Ape via a digitally printed velcro patch. The custom lining is printed with artwork from the upcoming comic series, detailing the role that mutants play at The Bored Ape Yacht Club.
What is an NFT?
So you’ve probably heard all the hype in the news about NFTs but lots of you will be wondering what they actually are.
At their most basic level, much like the stock market, brands or individuals can create and ‘trade’ digital files in the hope that the file’s value increases. The owners of those files are rewarded as the particular NFT brand grows.
In the instance of music, a musician could give fans the opportunity to buy NFTs for a new album and it would be those fans who are rewarded from its success instead of a music label.
In the case of Bored Ape Yacht Club, they have created a world of ape characters and anybody can own part of that world. Imagine if Disney had given people the chance to own its characters when it first launched. You might think that’s a farfetched comparison but the BAYC apes have grown so popular in the space of a year that the brand just got valued at $4 billion and they were featured on the front cover of Rolling Stone magazine!
To create this limited edition skiwear, we worked with the Mutant Cartel which is a media faction within the BAYC universe. The Cartel represents the community of Mutant Ape owners and their commercial interests.
