The Ultimate Guide to Morzine

Everything you need to know FOR YOUR NEXT SKI TRIP TO Morzine

The beautiful morning mountains of Morzine!

The beautiful morning mountains of Morzine!

Morzine is one of Dinoski’s favourite spots in the Alps. It was a key destination on our Roarsome Tour with the Dino Bus and you can ski for miles in all directions. It’s quite a sprawling town and there’s lots of different lifts so the one thing we would recommend, is booking a chalet which offers private transfers throughout your stay if possible.

AliKats Mountain Holidays is our ideal choice for accommodation. You’ll be treated like a king!

THE BEST WAY to GET to MORZINE

Morzine is located just before the border between France and Switzerland and the most popular way to get to the town is via a private transfer.

There are plenty of great private transfer options but our preference is with Ski-Lifts. They have won best Ski Transfer Operator in the world (yes, in the world) and their online quote generator keeps things simple.

Better yet, for our Dinoski followers they provide an exclusive 5% discount.

Otherwise we would suggest SkiidyGonzales, purely due to their name and the fact that all drivers turn up wearing sombreros so that you can easily spot them in the crowd. Genius!

If you’re flying

Morzine is ideally located not only due to it’s beautiful surroundings but also because it’s ease of access. There are numerous airports located within small driving distances and all of the major airlines fly to them.

This means that it’s never too inconvenient or expensive to get to Morzine.

The major Airports located near the town are:

  • Geneva, Switzerland - 1hr 15min drive

  • Chambery, France - 1hr 40min drive

  • Lyon, France - 2hr 15min drive

  • Grenoble, France - 2hr 30min drive

NIGHTLIFE in MORZINE

Our friends at AliKat Mountain Holidays, experts in everything Morzine, have written a great post about different spots to enjoy Morzine nightlife. The ones we love are:

Best Apres Ski bars

  • La Folie Douce - Amazing atmosphere with live music pumping from the afternoon to the evening. Highly recommended to book to get a spot in peak season.

  • Happy Hours Bar - The party kicks off at the bottom of Ardent lift at 4pm everyday and they host special DJ nights every Wednesday. Just remember that the last bus back to Morzine town is at 6pm.

Best for discovering new beers

  • Bec Jaune Brewery - If you love craft beer then this microbrewery is a must do. Most of their brews are made of locally sourced organic ingredients and they also provide some delicious food.

  • La Marmotte d’Or - Come for the beers but stay for the view, it’s that simple.

Best for sharing a bottle of wine

  • La Chaudanne - Make sure to get a seat downstairs in their cave bar to make the evening memorable.

  • Le Coup de Coeur - Their variety and wine selection will make sure to impress any connoisseur!

WHERE to EAT in MORZINE

Our friends at AliKat Mountain Holidays have again hooked us up with some of their favourite eateries in Morzine, which include:

Best for Brunch

  • Satelite Coffee - Best spot if you miss breakfast at your chalet. Their coffee is also top notch.

Best for Steak and Frites

  • Le Grillon - Generous portions means you’ll leave with a full belly and smile on your face. These guys are experts in serving up all things delicious.

Best for Fondue

  • La Ferme De La Fruitiere - It wouldn’t be a French ski trip without fondue. Which is why you need to come to La Ferme because it’s part of a working dairy farm.

Best for Burgers

  • Ô Chalet Burgers et Crêpes - Widely known as the best burger in the Alps, O Chalet is a popular spot in Morzine. You're guaranteed to have a great time with their welcoming staff.

Best on the slopes

  • Chez BaBeth - Located on Plain Dranse on the Swiss side. A great savoyard spot to soak up the rays but if you haven’t been before, try and book inside. A totally bonkers take on Santa’s grotto.
